Timbuk Farms

Timbuk Farms began in 1952 as a Christmas tree farm. At the time the dream of a Christmas tree farm became a reality for the original owners, the Schmidt family, Granville was quite remote from Columbus. A drive to the farm from the family home in Columbus was like a trip to Timbuktu. That is how the farm got its name, shortened and simplified to Timbuk Farms. The farm continues to be one of Central Ohio’s oldest and largest Christmas tree farms.

Today Timbuk Farms is operated by Jim and LaVonda Gibson of Granville. They both have a strong knowledge base of the horticultural industry and through the use of new technologies and automation are dedicated to producing the highest quality products. The Timbuk Farms name reflects the ties to the rich tradition and hospitality of the tree farm and the new energy and commitment to service and quality in the entire farm and greenhouse business.

Contract Young Plant Program

Our greenhouse operation is among the best equipped in the industry. Using the most advanced technology, we grow millions of plants each year. Timbuk Farms is a contract growers of  young plants for Ball Horticulture and Dummen USA. Most of these seedlings and cuttings are shipped to commercial greenhouses during the winter. Currently we supply around 3000 greenhouses and garden stores in all 50 states.

Wholesale Finished Plants

Our wholesale finished plant program serves retail garden centers throughout the US.  Timbuk Farms offers popular plants, familiar to most gardeners, as well as developing new varieties, colors and specialty plant programs. We proudly introduce these to our customers before they are readily available elsewhere. We also grow all of the poinsettias which are sold in Timbuk Lodge during the holiday tree season.

Spring, Summer & Fall Garden Marts

The selection of plants we offer retail consumers from April through October in our Timbuk Farms Garden Marts are one of the best, and largest, in central Ohio. Because we’ve grown and groomed these plants locally, we can assure our customers of the highest quality. And, because we grow millions of plants, we offer more varieties and colors than almost anywhere. Always fresh, never trucked long-distance.

Cut-Your-Own Christmas Trees

Timbuk Farms is one of Central Ohio’s oldest, and largest, Christmas tree farm. The first crop was planted in 1952, presently the farm spans nearly 200 acres.  Cut-your-own Christmas trees at Timbuk Farms continues to be is a family tradition featuring eight varieties of trees, Timbuk Lodge with Santa, fireplace and cafe, and much more.

Fundraising With Timbuk Farms

Each year non-profit organizations, and clubs, raise important money through the sale of Timbuk Farms flowers and plants. We offer three seasonal fundraising programs; Spring Bedding Flowers & Plants, Fall Mums  and Holiday Poinsettia & Wreaths. Interested organizations may apply by calling (740) 587-2178.
